Who Will Keep Portland Weird?” Places like Microscosm Publishing are being edged out by high rent. Microcosm Publishing carries such offerings as Guides to Anarchy, the Politics of Biodiesel, even Adventures in Menstruating. Maybe, as strange as it seem, most of the people in Portland do not want the city to be weird.
Glorifying diversity, glorifies difference. Difference builds walls. It is better to glorify sameness. Sameness builds bridges. We are all humans, we all are basically the same we laugh, cry and bleed. Many of the seeds sowed in the sixties brought forth thistles.
For those that prefer diversity, they can move to Bloomington and of course, there is always the Oregroanian. Now, if we could just figure out how to get rid of it?
